Depression and Suicide in Teenagers - Last year Dr Finian Kelly gave a presentation to Senior parents on the subject of Depression and Suicide in Teenagers. The American Psychiatric Association has issued a leaflet for parents on Teen Suicide, outlining the signals to look out for and what you should do if you suspect your teen is thinking of harming or killing his or herself. Click on the links below to download Dr Kelly's presentation and the APA leaflet.
Social, Personal & Health Education, as part of the curriculum, supports the personal development, health and well-being of young people and helps them to creat and maintain supportive relationships. The Education Act (1998) places an obligation on schools to promote the social and personal development of students and to provide health education for them. As required by the Department of Education and Science, Sutton Park Senior School has produced a Policy for the teaching of Social, Personal & Health Education. You can download a copy by clicking on the link below. Further information about the aims and objectives of the SPHE programme at both Primary and Secondary level can be found on the SPHE Website.
